Buy or gift miles and get a 100% bonus
Planning a spring break vacation or know someone else who could use some miles? Buy and Gift Miles can help get you there. And this February and March, we’ll give you 100% more miles! So if you buy or gift 10,000 miles, you or your friend will get 20,000 miles.
This offer couldn’t be easier. Simply buy or gift miles between February 1 and March 31, 2010, and you’ll automatically earn double the miles you purchased (up to 50,000 miles) for free.

Between November 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009 you get double the rewards when you buy, share or gift miles. However, there is a cap! The 100% reward bonus only applies to the first 50,000 miles.
If you decide to buy miles for your next trip this is what it will cost you. Each mile = $0.025 + $30 processing fee. 50,000 reward miles will cost $1280 giving you 100,000 miles. A flight from LAX to London will cost about $773.00 per person. To use points for this flight will cost 50,000 miles, $640.00, plus a $50.00 ticketing fee bringing the total to $690.00. Keep in mind that the availability of reward seats will be limited so there will not be as many travel options compared to a revenue ticket.
Moral of the story: Do some research.

US Airways is changing from two tier award booking to four tier. According to US Airways this will give you more flexibility with fewer restrictions.
The different award levels make booking your travel more convenient, giving you more selections and fewer restrictions. And we’re making it even easier with a new award calendar and award chart starting January 6, 2010! All you’ll have to do is check when you want to travel and we’ll show all the seats available.
